y actividades de la SEBOT
A la vuelta del verano han empezado a tomar forma las iniciativas de la SEBOT, la federación de sociedades científicas en el ámbito de la Botánica, que ya se encuentra definitivamente inscrita en el registro de asociaciones con el impulso de cinco sociedades botánicas españolas fundadoras, entre las que se encuentra nuestra Sociedad Española de Briología (SEB), además de las AEA, APLE, SEBiCoP y SEG.
En orden cronológico, su primera actividad pública será su presentación formal ante la comunidad botánica y los medios de comunicación, a finales del próximo mes de noviembre, en los locales del Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid. Los detalles de la convocatoria están por confirmar, aunque serán anunciados en breve.
En dicho acto se presentará la marca identificativa de la SEBOT, elegida tras el concurso abierto que se inicia con este mensaje. Con esta convocatoria pretendemos animar a los socios y simpatizantes a enviarnos sus propuestas de imagen corporativa que sirva de identificación a la federación y sus fines. Las bases del concurso aparecen aquí, y os animamos a que las difundáis por departamentos, jardines, sociedades y foros relacionados con los objetivos de la federación.
Por último, queremos anunciar la celebración del Simposio Anual de Botánica Española, una actividad que quiere ser exponente de las nuevas iniciativas transversales generadas por la coordinación de nuestras sociedades. El propósito de este Simposio será ofrecer anualmente una perspectiva actualizada acerca de un tema concreto, de interés general para la comunidad botánica. El formato elegido es el de una reunión de corta duración (simposio) en un ambiente distendido y colaborativo. En esta primera ocasión la sede será la Universidad de Sevilla durante los días 7-8 de febrero de 2020, y tendrá como tema “Filogenómica para comprender la diversidad y evolución de grupos complejos de plantas”. La inscripción es gratuita para socios y afiliados de SEBOT y se encuentra abierta hasta el 15 de noviembre de 2019 o hasta que se complete el aforo. Las plazas son limitadas.
Para hacer frente a los gastos que ocasionen las actividades de la SEBOT (entre las están como primeras necesidades la creación de una página web, abrir una cuenta bancaria, gastos de gestión, etc.), cada sociedad miembro de la SEBOT abonará 3€ por cada socio, coste que no repercutirá en las cuotas anuales de los socios de la SEB.
Un poco más adelante irán concretándose y anunciándose otras actividades y recursos (página web, cursos, etc.), en lo que confiamos sea una plataforma de ofertas botánicas que den pleno sentido a la creación de SEBOT, y que así sean percibidas no solo por los miembros de las cinco sociedades fundadoras, sino por la comunidad botánica española.

SEBOT: formal presentation and activities
The initiatives of SEBOT, the federation of scientific societies in the field of Botany, have begun to take shape as the summer returns. It is now definitively registered in the register of associations with the impulse of five founding Spanish botanical societies, including our Spanish Society of Bryology (SEB), as well as the AEA, APLE, SEBiCoP and SEG.
In chronological order, its first public activity will be its formal presentation to the botanical community and the media, at the end of next November, in the premises of the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid. The details of the call are to be confirmed, although they will be announced shortly.
In this act the identifying mark of the SEBOT will be presented, chosen after the open competition that begins with this message. With this call we intend to encourage members and supporters to send us their proposals for corporate image that serves as identification to the federation and its purposes. The contest rules are here, and we encourage you to disseminate them by departments, gardens, societies and forums related to the objectives of the federation.
Finally, we would like to announce the celebration of the Annual Symposium of Spanish Botany, an activity that wants to be an exponent of the new transversal initiatives generated by the coordination of our societies. The purpose of this Symposium will be to offer an updated perspective on a specific topic of general interest to the botanical community. The format chosen is that of a short meeting (symposium) in a relaxed and collaborative atmosphere. On this first occasion the venue will be the University of Seville during the days 7-8 February 2020, and will have as its theme "Phylogenomics to understand the diversity and evolution of complex groups of plants". Registration is free for members and affiliates of SEBOT and is open until 15 November 2019 or until capacity is full. Places are limited.
In order to face the expenses caused by SEBOT's activities (the creation of a website, opening a bank account, management expenses, etc. are among the first necessities), each SEBOT member society will pay 3€ for each member, a cost that will not be reflected in the annual fees of SEB members.
A little later, other activities and resources (web page, courses, etc.) will be announced, in what we trust is a platform of botanical offers that give full meaning to the creation of SEBOT, and that this way they will be perceived not only by the members of the five founding societies, but also by the Spanish botanical community..
